Meet our new Brand Ambassador, Nia Gabrielle.  We wanted to find a way to bring a message to young women who are not only socially conscious about natural products, but who would represent holistic values.  I Value My Vagina, is the words of empowerment that I would hear from a friend, Mary B. Morrison.  She told me about a platform that she wanted to speak to women about.  I Value My Vagina, was what I thought we as women needed to repeat to ourselves and our daughters over and over again.  It would also be the perfect platform for what I was doing in the natural health arena as it concerns feminine health.  The pH Restore products  from Laeh Shea Naturals, are our most prized products due to the sensitivity  that we women carry when it comes to vaginal health.  Having the talk with your daughter is something many women shy away from.  They say, “oh, it’s not time yet” or “she’s too young to understand”.  Teens are a lot smarter these days due to the internet.  The conversations with your daughters may surprise you.  You may actually learn from a kid.

Recently, we launched our product in a OB/GYN office in the Atlanta Georgia area.  Several women were there to discuss female issues.  After the presentation of Dr. Benita Stephens the women present  were given an opportunity to ask questions.  Can you believe, how hard it was for the first woman to ask a question?   It took several promptings before anyone would speak.  Dr. Stephens knew we had questions, but too afraid to ask.  I’m sure all of us were there because we had questions, yet not one person wanted to speak up and say, I have chronic infections, bladder leakage, inorgasmic or extreme dryness.  Somehow in our minds it is still dirty when we talk about sex. Or we don’t want to be outed as unclean if we suffer from infections.   If you were raised like me, then sex was that dirty word we didn’t talk about or let alone do.  For years I struggled with vaginal discharge.  I always thought I had some type of infection and this lead me to be less intimate with my partner or husband.  It was only in my thirties did I find out a small amount of discharge is normal.  I was so glad to hear Dr. Stephens explain this to the ladies.  She was also able to debunk many things that we thought about our vagina.  For one thing, she told the ladies the difference between our ovaries, vagina, cervix and uterus.  Yes, some of them didn’t know.  Do you know how many women think that just because they had a hysterectomy that they automatically went into menopause?  This miseducation of women has to stop!  A small discharge  is your body’s attempt to detox impurities.  I can now look back at all the times I purchased the Monistat ( I should have stock in the company) or begged my doctor to prescribe me something.  After all, what woman wanted to be intimate with a man if you have a discharge?

When I became a formulator after years of being a clinical research scientist, the world of natural medicine reversed so many things I had learned in college and been taught professionally.  I had safety in knowing that there was a pill for any ailment.  So I thought.  When I started back having feminine issues in my early thirties, I knew I needed something different.  The medication wasn’t working.  Or better yet, it would work for a week or two and then my symptoms would return.  As I began to research natural plants, oils, herbs and compounds, I began to realize that much of what I had learned in pharmaceutical science was that most  medicines came from natural resources until then 1900’s when we began to make more synthetic drugs.  So I started there with my approach.  I began studying products that were natural and organic that worked and had some evidence based model from which I could draw upon.

It lead me to develop pH Restore.  You see most of my vaginal issues centered around an imbalance in the natural ecology of my delicate area.  I had changed the pH and made the environment there a hostile ground.  The first thing I needed to do was to find and use only products that were native to that area.  Meaning the products had to be more acidic.  Everything I had been using was alkaline.  From the soap that I was using to the products on my hair,  although it was natural, the pH was still way too high.  I began making my own soap.  Even my original soap that I was formulating wasn’t good for this area.  While being all natural it was still too high in pH.  I consulted with girlfriends and most of them wouldn’t even admit that this was an issue.  I felt alone.  I was too embarrassed to talked to anyone else about it.   I won’t even go into the endless bathing ritual.  I finally had enough when a young lady walked into my office.  She wanted a cure for yeast once and for all.  We spoke at length and I felt her pain.  I was no longer alone in the fight.  She had experienced similar symptoms and tried everything from the doctor and the internet.  I told her my story and what I had done in my journey.  She said, I will try anything.  We both found relief, but not a cure.  Our problems went away they just didn’t come back as soon as before.  I embarked on a two year journey to perfect the right soap for my “sweet spot”.  And I found her in 2013.

pH Restore is my most prized product.  It is prized because many women have told me that it brought back sexual confidence, vaginal hygiene and even treatment from chronic yeast infections.  Now, I don’t claim to have a cure.  I just know that this product works for me.  I feel clean, I am clean and most importantly, I have confidence with my vaginal hygiene.  I am willing to speak freely about this now because I am on the other side of treatment.  Feminine hygiene doesn’t have to be the silent treatment we don’t talk about. Restore your pH today!
