I didn’t realize it until someone said it to me that I have the gift of entrepreneurship. I didn’t immediately agree with the person, but it did make me stop and think about the inventory of things that I had created that generated money. All I know is, every time I found something that I liked or created someone else liked it as well. From craft ideas to quirky things I found online to the things I made out of frustration when I couldn’t find it. For as long as I can remember, I have always had what we now call a side hustle. To be totally honest, there was always a time that I needed more money for something. I’m not claiming that I was poor (but I have been), but there have been times when all my bills are paid, but I needed money for things that had not been budgeted.
For years I was so good at making money in addition to my day job that I taught others how to make money. I created a course called your, “First Five Figure Income.” I taught it at seminars, tech companies, and several big businesses bought the course. But, my biggest credit is that the course was bought by expert businessmen like Jimmy John Shark and was taught at a major university for two years.
I’ve learned that making money is not hard when you have someone to train you, a winning idea, or a road map that leads you. It’s 2020 and many people are struggling to make ends meet. The pandemic has caused an economic crisis in many homes. I want to help you create a thousand dollars since the holidays are around the corner.
HOW TO MAKE A THOUSAND DOLLARS
- Sell your stuff. Look around the house a find a collection (all of us have one). Consider parting ways with it and giving it a home somewhere else for a small fee. I’ve found the easiest place for women to do this is their closet. Most of us have those red carpet outfits that were show-stoppers. In fact, they were so noteworthy, that we just simply can only wear them one time. Stop memorializing the dress by storing it in the closet. Get rid of it. It’s better to let someone else have the same pleasure you had. You can always ask them to send you pictures wearing them. You could also sell of Poshmark, FB Marketplace, Craigslist.
- Create a course. This is my favorite. Everyone has something that they are good at. Believe it or not, this does not have to be exhaustive. Many years ago, I sold courses on how to’s. I remember selling a course for $9.99 on how to incorporate your business. It only takes 100 people to buy your $10 to make a thousand. I can’t begin to tell you how easy it is to do this. One of my friends is a stylist. I challenged him on doing a 10-page document on how to cut your hair. He has a great following and made pretty good money. We live in an information society. You may have inside your head information that people will pay to know. You can use Outschool or Teachable platforms.
- Do you have free time in the evenings or weekends? Consider driving for Uber, Lyft, or doing tasks for people. Task Rabbit is awesome.
- Do you like to takes pictures? Are you good at it? Do you have an eye for styling and stages scenes? Then consider Snapwire and Twenty20 who will pay you for taking pictures.
- Finally, if you can not do it. Find someone or partner with someone who can. For example, before I learned how to make quality soap, I purchased it at wholesale and sold it at retail. There are certain things that I’m just not good at so I partner with the people who does.
My challenge to you this Thousand Dollar Thursday. Is to find one thing that you can do and do it for the next two months to give yourself an extra $1000.
